Living culture in Nesodden

" Imagine a place, where creativity and community flourish in harmony. "

Picture a space where art, creativity, and community converge like charm...

With a blend of passionate dedication, such place can flourish as a thriving cultural hub and a center of creative focus. We thought that the best fit for such type place would be Sandvang selskaps-lokaler, but the reality showed differently. We are moving on and still searching as of March '25. Manifesting in Sandvang was an amazing experience, so let's quickly recap what we were up to between august and december 2024.

Movement

Steps toward sustainability

In 2024, we have initiated  steps toward building a  cultural hub in Sandvang selskapslokaler. Here are some of the achievements - events, that brought community together. What can 2025 bring?

24.-25.8.

Kunst og fellesskap

First event that was serving as the opening of our initiative and the project of Sandvang kultursenter. We united 20 artists and exposed their magnetic art pieces out to the world! On top of this highly creative and exploratory setting we prepared a nice, warm, musical program. The flow of people and their art-gazing curiosity was priceless!

7.-8.9.

Kunst i Follo på Sandvang

We reorganized the exhibition to fit 3 more artists and enhanced the floor plan of the exhibition. On top of already exciting offer of art scaling from jewelry to a human sized paintings, we raised so many existential questions! Art tells stories and so does music - so we were happy to host 5 concerts during the exhibition, discussion about creativity and vintage art market. Oh so pleasant!

1.10.

Beginning of the open atelier

First two artists rented out the place as their atelier spots - Gosha Szewczyk from Dyrk AS and Ellen Aronsen, who work with materials and textiles to find sweet spot where merch and apparel can be sustainable and stay freakin cool using hemp and other arising new materials.

13.10.

Marked & fellesskap #1

Our 1st seasonal market. This event was a support for the local economy and exchange of goods. We tested out the capacity of the building and if the Sandvang building was a good fit for an ongoing traffic, limited space for so many selling tables and how children would use the dedicated corner filled with toys and art supplies. It was one beautiful sunday!

10.11.

Marked og fellesskap #2

#2nd market at Sandvang! This cozy gathering featured a variety of local artisans, handmade goods, delicious food, and activities for all ages. It was a great way to connect with the community, find unique treasures, and enjoy a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Here we figured out, how to do a market even better with more effective floor management, better food & waste management, pricing of items, and more. Smell and taste of our 5-spices style autumn soup was a hit. It sold out!

14.11.

Kroki på Sandvang

Kroki was a fun and engaging drawing session that focused on capturing the essence of a subject with rapid, expressive strokes. 2-3 minutes for a sketch! We tried it too and it was anything but an easy task! It was a good way to look over the shoulders and notice how some of the skilled painters dealt with shortage of time.

8.12.

Jam session

Our first and so far the last jam session was indeed special. We gathered around twenty fantastic musicians to manifest their deepest musical fantasies and play along the bass/guitar, african drums, piano and much more. It was a blast with particularly exciting mments of connection. Jam music is raw energy!

9.12.

Winter market

The 1st curated Christmas market at Sandvang will focus on a unique theme: not just Christmas, but community and creativity. This event will serve as a marketplace for local creatives, featuring handcrafted items and seasonal products made in collaboration with the members of our atelier, offering a blend of art, culture, and festive spirit.

Investment in art and community is an investment in future. A beautiful momentum of human connection unfolded.

You

" Art is alive in all corners of the world, even in picturesque Fjellstrand. I am glad that I could participate in the exhibition as one of the many exhibitors and thus offer a piece of my soul, my point of view and my emotions to the people. I firmly believe that this was not the last exhibition at Sandvang kultursenter and we will meet again next time. "

Lukas Stefko, photographer

" Kunst og fellesskap encapsulated a beautiful balance between well established with fresh and unexplored. Our belief is that it is meaningless to judge art, because it is here to be experienced and the only thing that we can evaluate are the feelings that perceiving art can unfold. "

Michal Koblisek, Painter

" Art is not just a picture, art is about arousing emotions and the commitment of the audience. The deep conversation that can come about whether you like a work of art, or not like it, is as social engagement. The artist's mission is to touch the very deep thoughts and feelings we all have inside us," Madla shared her thoughts on the exhibition and its mission. "

Madla Hruza, Artist & filmmaker

" It is great to see that new activities are taking place in Fjellstrand, and that there are people who are doing something so that the rest of us can meet and be creative together. Sandvang gives both artists and children the opportunity to explore their creativity in an inspiring atmosphere. I am looking forward to the upcoming events that will take place at Sandvang! "

Eva, exhibition visitor

" It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of this exhibition! The warm welcome and the professionalism Sandvang Art collective has shown me is absolutely amazing! I`ve loved being a part of this so far and I wish that i lived closer so that I could take part in this community full time and rent a studio space there full time. That would have been fantastic. "

Anki Helgor, Artist

" I had a lot of excitement before the exhibition. I thought a lot about how I would be judged and what people would think. It was my first exhibition in my life and it was really cool. Of course, the language barrier distanced me from people there, but I was very happy to be a part of this exhibition. I am very grateful to the people who support me. Thanks to them, I was able to show myself to a new society. Thank you very much. "

FAQ

Q01: What are you building now?

After busy months of organizing, projecting, and fundraising activities we decided not to continue with our efforts at Sandvang selskapslokaler. We are using the time to concept and formulate our movement, so we can bring more value to the community and art. We are here to give back to community, so it has to be the best.

Q02: Do you need any help with the movement?

Oh, so good to hear, thanks for asking! When the right time will come, we will spread the echo about our updated plans and we will definitely be in need for naturally aspirated souls burning for the better good of community and art. Stay tuned, we will be as communicative and upfront as it gets! We also really appreciate your interest and again - thanks for asking!

Q06: How does your movement contribute to the community?

Our dream is to see locals thrive together as a community without any prejudice and with heart-warm openness to connect. We know our ways - music, visual arts and a word well said are some of the best ways to forget the ego, raise the ever-present, but so overlooked questions to attack the status quo and simply humanify back the society of online trends and algorithms. Life is live!
